CH. LOGA OF THE ARCTIC

Samoyed History captured on canvas. The oil painting Ch. Loga of the Arctic, by English artist Frederick Thomas Daws, dates from 1932. Loga, a male Samoyed by Mustan of Farningham out of Sara, was born in 1925. In the fifth generation, his pedigree shows unspecified ancestors, such as “Siberian male” and “Siberian female.”

Schilderij van de Victoriaanse kunstschilders Frederick Morgan and Thomas Blinks. Koningin Alexandra (1844-1925) was getrouwd met koning Edward VII. Ze hield van honden, speciaal van de Pekingees, de Japanse Spaniel en de Barzoi.

 

Victorian painting by Frederick Morgan en Thomas Blinks. Queen Alexandra (1844-1925) was married to King Edward VII. She loved dogs, especially Pekingese, Japanese Spaniels, and Borzois.

 

 

 

 

 

17: SEVEN ENGLISH SETTERS

Painting by Edmund Osthaus (1853-1928) Two men played an important role in developing the modern English Setter: Edward Laverack (1800-77), a breeder in Shropshire (England), and Richard L. Purcell Llewellin (1840-1925) of Leicestershire. It is said that Laverack focused more on conformation than hunting ability. In the painting, several dogs are resting together on a kennel bench.

 

 

 

 

18: PORTRAIT OF A SACRAMENTO INDIAN WITH TWO DALMANTIANS (1867)

Schilderij van de Duits-Amerikaanse kunstenaar Charles Nahl (1818-1878). Een bijzondere voorstelling met een zittende man – een  ‘Sacramento Indian’- twee Dalmatische honden, een haan en een kip. Dit alles gesitueerd in een fraai landschap met op de achtergrond een rivier en bergen. Een intrigerend werk.
