BARBADO DA TERCEIRA - Portrait of a breed

In 2005 is dit ras voor het eerst gezien op een hondententoonstelling in Portugal. Op 24 en 25 september 2016 wordt de Barbado officieel gepresenteerd aan de Nederlandse kynologie. Dit ras is gericht op het hoeden en drijven van vee. Land van herkomst zijn de Azoren, een eilandengroep die een autonome regio van Portugal zijn. De geschiedenis van dit ras gaat terug tot 1500; wereld wijd zijn er ongeveer 1400. Het ras deelt een aantal fysieke kenmerken met de Gos d’Atura en de Pyreneese Herdershond.
